Materials:
Yttria-stabilized zirconia
Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), also known as zirconia, partly stabilized with yttria, is a standard ceramic material that is employed on a large-scale basis for industrial production of ceramic parts and components, has excellent hardness and toughness, wear resistance, and it also has good electric insulation and chemical resistance. It behaves very well in in weak acid or alkali solution without being corroded.
Properties of zirconia parts
1. Extremely hard –zirconia ceramic parts wear considerably less and last much longer even than alumina ceramic parts. Under the conditions of high-pressure and high-speed, zirconia parts work long time without few changes.
2. Outstanding surface finish – The roughness of zirconia ceramics is usually no more than 0.15um, much smoother than alumina ceramic bearings.
3. Striking properties like compressive and flexural strength, fracture toughness.
4. Pretty good corrosion resistance – The zirconia ceramics are corrosion resistant and won’t be corroded like metal bearings in alkali or acid conditions
Application
In food and beverage industry, the zirconia rod is supposed to move with high speed and pressure to transport acids or alkalis. USDA approves it for contact with food products. In food and beverage industries, big molecule is pulverized into smaller ones by homogenizer, in which installed zirconia rings, zirconia rod/plug, zirconia seat.
